After two failed attempts to get a blonde ombre with the same hairdresser, I was fed up and began looking for a new stylist. I ended up going to see my friend's because I knew she specialized in darker hair.
I learned that in order to achieve the gradual fade from dark hair at the roots to light at the ends, the hair must be bleached and toned through a process called "balayage" in which dark and medium tones are used to soften the transition from the dark to light gradient on the hair.
An "ombre" is simply the contrast between the dark and light sections of the hair. A balayage ombre is a combination of the two, and is the most common hair coloring technique chosen by young women. The balayage ombre got its claim to fame when Khloe Kardashian debuted hers a few years back.
