Princess Diana: A Modern Day Icon

I can still remember as if it were only yesterday. I had just returned from vacation with my family, and when my mother flipped on the television there were Breaking News updates everywhere. Princess Diana was killed in a car accident. Being 11 years old, I didn't really know who Princess Diana was except for the fact that she was a Princess. Over the years since her death, I've come to know what an incredibly compassionate and amazing role model for the rest of the world. She's also left her mark on the fashion world as I look to her style for inspiration for my own wardrobe. She nailed it for a modern day Princess from her lush evening ball gowns to her casual everyday styles - she is truly a role model for the world. And I'm absolutely in love with her classic Lady Dior!

Liquid Lippys

Lately, all the big time beauty bloggers have been using liquid lipstick in all their looks - so I decided to check it out. Here are the few I tried, and a brief review:

I got a free sample from Sephora. It has the twist-to-sponge application, which I've never been a huge fan of since it's difficult to control how much product gets on your lips and where it goes. This makes the product exceptionally difficult to use since the liquid dries on contact and is difficult to remove. The color is gorgeous, and it doesn't dry out your lips. I probably won't buy this particular one again, but I'd give this a 7 out of 10.

In the photo above, I tried Kat Von D's liquid lipstick in Lolita which I am IN LOVE with. It lasts all day, and does not smidge or clump up when exposed to oils. It's easy to apply and has a great consistency allowing multiple layers of color. 10 out of 10, hands down!!!

Love the high pigmentation of these lip colors. I've seen lots of bloggers post demos of different looks and it's amazing what this product can do. The only thing about it is that it dried out my lips. On top of that, when it comes off it chips and cracks off so it needs to be re-applied after eating or extended periods of time. I'm wearing Heathers, which I love so I'm not planning on returning it. However, I will not be purchasing different colors.

All in all, I'd say Kat Von D's was the best followed by Anastasia, and then Too Faced. Whichever you pick, liquid lipsticks are great for longwear and rich color. Party on!

Halloween 2015

Halloween is not just a time to dress slutty or eat tons of candy, it's also a time to experiment with some makeup looks you can't always do. I love playing with makeup, especially a smokey eye, but I get so scared that I'll mess it up and look like a drag queen for the rest of the day.

Since I dressed as a cat, I took advantage of the cat eye using the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay. I used Foxy, Suspect, Busted, Y2K, and Blackout.

Night at the Opera

Wedding planning has been so draining, so to take a little break I went to see Phantom of the Opera since its playing locally in San Francisco. The Orpheum is a lovely venue rich with character and beautiful architecture. As soon as you walk through the double doors you feel like you've been transported back in time to another era in which live entertainment was far more rampant than it is today. The Phantom of the Opera is my favorite opera, and I'd been wanting to see this show for a long time. It was amazing, I truly loved it! If you're in San Francisco, I highly recommend seeing it before they take off.

For the evening at the opera I wanted to stay comfy, but classy. I grabbed a long sleeve cocktail dress from DailyLook and my shiny new, gold rockstud Valentinos. It's a great look for any occasion, especially mid-week date nights!

Wedding Planning Part II

Time for round 2! I'm pretty excited for my second wedding ceremony and reception, because this time around I know what needs to be done first and what can wait until closer to the event.

My main goal now is to finalize the jewelry, hair/makeup, and shoes for me and my bridal party. It can be a daunting task since you are not the other people and don't know what they are comfortable with wearing. I just stick with the notion that it's my wedding and I know they love me enough to wear whatever I ask them to. Even if it's pink leather pants...maybe.

I love all things gold, so I've got a little collection building up. Additionally, gold is a color that compliments all skin tones and is so versatile that it goes with a number of outfits. I personally am a sucker for a pair of hot, gold heels. I'm happy dropping a little extra $$ on them also, because I know I will get lots of use out of them. Especially if they are comfortable, you definitely want to consider just pulling the trigger.

Now as for the wedding, I'm deciding if I want gold in the ceremony or reception. Ideas?

Girl On TV

I'm married!

All the planning finally came to a closure this past Saturday when I got to say "I do" to my dearest friend. Being a married woman makes me realize how far I've come alone, and makes me excited Anne I think of how much farther I'll get with my husband at my side. My husband...that will take some getting used to :)
